Gold Nanoink
Gold Nanoink Aplications
As wiring and device electrodes that require high stability
C-INK gold nanoink is used in situations where stability that cannot be achieved with silver is required and in cutting-edge research sites. In particular, gold nanoink has become the mainstream for supply to research institutes, and application examples are being reported one after another from research sites. The following are typical research examples.
Research case using gold nanoink
1
Electrodes for fully printed organic devices
Gold has high stability and carrier injection efficiency, and is an indispensable material for research on organic semiconductor devices. C-INK gold nanoink has an extremely low content of impure organic substances in the ink, and has the property of not hindering operating efficiency even when used as an electrode material in printing. The figure below shows a printed FET device that uses C-INK gold nanoink as an electrode and carbon nanotube as a semiconductor. 70 cm^2/Vs High mobility is achieved. In such devices, even if it is written as a printed type, the electrodes are generally formed by vacuum deposition, but a completely printed device can be realized by using C-INK gold nanoink.
2
Fine wiring formation using selective surface treatment
C-INK nanoink is a water-based material. Fine printing is difficult because ink is usually repelled on resin substrates such as polyimide. By irradiating only a limited part of such a resin substrate that is difficult to get wet with ultraviolet light, it is possible to selectively perform the parental liquid treatment. As shown in the figure below, it is possible to form fine wiring with a line width of 0.6 μm, which is a level that is not normally possible. In recent years, it has become possible to make the fine wiring printed and formed in this way three-dimensional and to make it conductive by via holes. In order to form wiring by such selective surface treatment, it is essential to optimize the ink characteristics. With C-INK, ink can be customized according to the application. Biocompatible device
For applications that come into contact with living organisms, precious metals such as gold, which are less likely to cause allergic reactions, are useful. Research cases have been reported in which coils are formed on a biocompatible resin substrate with C-INK gold nanoink, and non-contact induction heating is used for the purpose of hyperthermia for cancer. C-INK gold nanoink can be inkjet printed to form a biocompatible device with a thickness of only 7 μm.
In such other application examples in the bio system, it has been clarified that the electrode formation for the blood glucose sensor can be performed in exactly the same manner as the gold electrode conventionally used. This is due to the extremely high purity of C-INK nanoinks and the extremely low content of organic impurities that interfere with operation.
